WORKSHOP DESIGN GUIDE

The simpler the design,
the better the rug.

You don't need to be an artist. Our most-loved workshop rugs are bold, simple shapes —
fun to make, easy to finish, and they look incredible on the wall.

LINE & SHAPE

Bold beats busy.

Thick lines and big shapes are easier — and they look amazing.

Tip · Anything thinner than 2cm will get lost in the fluff. Draw with a marker, not a pen.
TEXT & LETTERS

Big, blocky letters work best.

Short words in bold fonts come out crisp. Thin or curly fonts get lost in the yarn.

Tip · Keep words to 3–4 letters. Each letter takes ~15 minutes to tuft.
COLOUR

Flat colour blocks always win.

Yarn doesn't blend like paint. Pick 3–5 colours and use them as solid blocks.

BEFORE YOUR WORKSHOP

Three things to do before you arrive.

Quick prep so you make the most of your time at the studio.

01

Send us your design ahead of time

Email or WhatsApp the image you'd like to tuft — a photo, drawing, or screenshot. Don't want to draw it onto the cloth yourself? Add our pre-tracing service and we'll have it ready when you arrive.

02

Wear comfortable clothes

Tufting is hands-on. Closed shoes recommended. Long hair tied back.

03

Arrive 10 minutes early

We start with a quick safety intro and yarn selection. Being early means more tufting time.
